Literature Text

Take my hand,
and dance with me,
though names are gone,
and never known,
we'll dance together
to this
unknown melody, this
rhythm of the saints because,
if we cannot dance with strangers,
we will never dance
with lovers,

and if we cannot dance
with ourselves,
how can we dance with strangers?
If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot love anyone else.

:icontwilightlavender:'s request: dancing with strangers.

Written while listening to "One Song, Glory", from the RENT soundtrack, performed by the original Broadway cast. Composed by Jonathan Larson.
